Young Performers Program
While all of our students have the opportunity to perform in our annual June Celebration Performance, many of our students want the opportunity and the experience of training and performing in additional productions. Studio Sharise Creative & Performing Arts Center's Young Performers Program enables theater-loving kids, ages 3+ to develop confidence, character, leadership, and presentation skills through ensemble performances. Our Young Performers Program is designed to inspire creative expression, build confidence, and instill well-being in both aspiring artists and future audiences. Performing is fun for Boys and Girls!
Achieving Excellence throiugh Performance! Our Young Performer Program gets students out of the classroom and onto the stage as students hone their skills learned in their classes while preparing to put on a show!
Process over Product! That's what you'll find at Studio Sharise Creative & Performing Arts Center. Though our students prepare for productions, we believe the process of learning is most important! Focusing on process allows students to feel free to learn, create, explore, and make mistakes. Though we work towards personal excellence, commitment, and follow through, any student who desires to perform will* - regardless of experience.
Students enrolled in 1 or more classes at Studio Sharise have theo pprotunity to participate in our fun Young Performers Program and Shows.
Little Burbank Players (Ages 3-7)
There are no auditions, only great fun in getting ready to put on a show! Every student gets a part to play!
Students enrolled in our Little Burbank Players Class will perform in informal performances for family and friends and have the opportunity to perform in our end of year Celebration Performance. Rehearsals are usually held during regular class time though additional rehearsals may be called for our formal productions. See class here.
*Every student who auditions (when applicable) and has been enrolled in classes since the beginning of the production period will get a part to play. Any student who joins classes or the production after the beginning of the production period, will be cast in the chorus or as an understudy, and will also be vitally involved in the technical side of the show. We find this policy to be necessary to the cohesiveness of the show. Students joining after the beginning of the season will have the wonderful opportunity to learn what happens behind the scenes as they assist in areas of costuming, props, running sound and lights, set building and other technical aspects necessary in putting on a show. They may also have the opportunity to work as an assistant director, stage manager or assistant choreographer!
There are many roads a student can take in the field of the theatre, dance, and drama and we, at Studio Sharise, wish to introduce them to as many possibilities and paths as possible.
Get the Most out of our Performers Programs
The students who tend to have the most fun and get the most out of our Performing Arts Programs are those that thrive in a group/team setting. The performing arts is not a solo activity, and like in sports, every member of the team is important! Student follow through and adherence to our attendance policy is absolutely necessary. Not only are we a team, we, at Studio Sharise, are a family and every member of that family has a responsibility that they are relied on to complete.
In our performance programs there is a great deal of memorization of song lyrics, scenes/scripts, and dances. Students should be confident readers and /or have committed help at home to memorize lines/songs at home. Students must be able to take directions and be excellent listeners. The program moves quickly and there is an expectation that, week to week, they will have gone over their material and will be prepared to work at the next rehearsal. This means they will require some help at home with their lines and lyrics, and spend time daily for practice. The better prepared they are for each rehearsal, the more parts/lines/songs we can give them, the more fun students will have, and the better they will serve themselves, each other, and the show. All Performing students must attend auditions (when applicable), mandatory cast rehearsals, and shows.
