Here's where your young thespian begins their training and develops their love for the theatre. Your child will explore movement, music & song, mime, puppetry, costume making, acting and more Different fun themes are introduced throughout the year to keep children excited and eager to learn. Children are taught in an encouraging, uplifting environment with lots of laughter and tons of FUN!
Classes begin with a brain/body warm up to "shake out the sillies" and help get students focused on the day's learning. Fun physical and vocal warm ups, creative music explorations, and team building activities, follow. We will then create our costumes, masks, or scenery and rehearse our play that they can't wait to perform for you during our parent share day!
Intro & Primary Grades
As students progress though the introductory and primary grades, students will continue to build upon the foundations and develop their skills with age/ability appropriate material, Students will grow their skills in improvisation, speech, memorization and pantomime utilizing poetry, short scripted plays, monologues, and scene work. Students will also have the opportunity to create their own characters and short plays helping them to understand the elements of story and the development of character.
Students ages 6 and above who are ready for our technique training will build upon what they've learned and be further challenged in areas of memorization, characterization, performance quality, and delivery.
Every class is designed to allow for fun and creative expression in all children while learning and growing their skills in drama,speech and music. Our classes help build physical coordination, vocal projection, music appreciation, confidence, and imagination!
As part of our Little and Jr. Burbank Payers classes, students will begin their adventure into music with the fun and exciting Music Box curriculum designed by renowned music teacher and innovator, Lynn Kleiner. Using the Orff Approach, children learn about music on a level that they can easily comprehend. Musical concepts are learned through singing, chanting, dance, movement, drama and the playing of percussion instruments. Improvisation, composition and a child's natural sense of play are encouraged! Students will develop a love of music along with a strong foundation in music education.
Along with our informal, low pressure share days for family and friends, children will also perform in our June Celebration Performance.
